New Visitors Pod

In order for safe visitation whilst the autumnal weather was drawing in during October, the home wanted to create an environment that was safe for families to visit residents. A visitor’s pod was created which was entirely separate from the main areas of the home. The way that the pod was set up has allowed for safe visitation, with diligent and regular cleaning in between visits. The relatives Pod has been a success and has allowed for interactions with sound, sight and comfort, which were parts of human interactions that we all took for granted prior to Covid-19.

The screens were specially made by a local company called The PPE Safety Screen Company who were extremely efficient in the manufacture and delivery, allowing our residents the simple luxuries of being able to see their family face to face!

Birthday Celebrations

One of our beloved residents, Mr P celebrated his 91st Birthday on 14th of October. He enjoyed a social distanced visit from his wife and daughter Jackie. He opened all of his cards and our lovely Vicky read them to him whilst he opened his birthday presents. He was thoroughly spoilt with lots of chocolate which he loves, and a cardigan from his wife and his favourite colour Green Jumper. Everyone sang happy birthday and Mr P blew out his candles on his chocolate and strawberry birthday cake which was enjoyed by all the residents for afternoon tea. We hope you had a wonderful birthday Mr P!

Firework Picture Making

Our activities coordinators, Bryony and Tracey did a group activity making firework pictures using glue and glitter. They were very effective and beautiful bright colours of gold, silver, red and green. The pictures resemble fireworks explosions in the sky and Catherine wheels. Making these pictures gave the residents an opportunity to reminisce about previous firework night displays they had attended.

Bird Feeders

A very generous relative of our one of the residents, Lyn Wishart donated birdfeeders and food to the home. The residents thoroughly enjoyed putting on their coats and going out into the garden to fill the feeders with seeds and nuts. The residents chose where to put them so when they are sitting in the lounge all residents can watch the birds come and go. Thank you Lyn for your generous donation. We are sure that all of the birds who visit will be very thankful, and so will all of the residents who get to watch the birds enjoy the new feeders!

David Pepper Visits

On Tuesday the 20th of October the home had a very welcomed visit from singer and entertainer David Pepper. All the residents thoroughly enjoy it when David comes to the home. The residents can reminisce with music from their past, singing and dancing. The residents love getting involved by  shaking the tambourines and maracas! David also takes requests and these are often Elvis or Frank Sinatra as these are some of the residents’ favourites.
